Local Vocalists to Compete In a "Sing Off" For a Chance

To Shine at a Los Angeles Sol Home Game

CARSON, CALIFORNIA - Wednesday, March 4, 2009 - The first annual Sol Fest this Sunday, March 8, 2009 will be an exciting event for soccer fans and aspiring vocalists alike. In addition to a fun-filled day of Sol activities, including an open practice, season seat selection, prize giveaways and player meet and greets, local vocalists will have the opportunity to shine at the first "National Anthem Contest" at the Home Depot Center on the campus of California State University – Dominguez Hills.

The contest will begin at 11:00 am (PT), and each contestant will have the opportunity to compete in a live "sing-off" in front of judges. Sol Fest is free to the public and will be a celebration of the upcoming inaugural Los Angeles Sol season. The winning contestant will be invited to sing the "Star Spangled Banner" at a Los Angeles Sol home game during the 2009 season.

"Sol Fest will be a great time for the whole family," said Los Angeles Sol General Manager Charlie Naimo. "Adding the National Anthem Contest will add even more excitement to the day and also allow local vocalists to showcase their talent in front of our judges."

Contestants of all ages are encouraged to register online by 12:00 pm on Friday, March 6th at www.LosAngelesSol.com. Walk up contestants can also audition by attending Sol Fest. All minors must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. All costumes, props, and routines, must be appropriate for an "all-ages" audience.

The Sol features three time FIFA player of the Year Marta, along with U.S. Olympic gold medal winning national team players Shannon Boxx, Stephanie Cox, and Aly Wagner. The Inaugural season kicks off on Sunday, March 29 at The Home Depot Center on the campus of California State University-Dominguez Hills, when the club hosts the Washington Freedom in a 3 pm (PT) match. The WPS Inaugural Match between the Sol and the Freedom will be the only one played in WPS that weekend.

Individual tickets for the Inaugural 2009 Sol season go on-sale this Sunday at 10:00am at the Home Depot Center Box Office and Ticketmaster.com. Season ticket packages start at just $105 for all ten home games. Mini-plans of 5 and 3 games, and group tickets are also available now.
