The great boxing champion and promoter, Oscar De La Hoya, today invested in the future of American soccer.

His Golden Boy Promotions organization will now control a 25% interest in MLS champion, the Houston Dynamo. This is a very positive development for the sport in North America. Most MLS investors maintain a lower profile than owners in other domestic sports.

As Glenn Davis of the Soccer Hour said:
"If you were worried about De La Hoya not being involved locally you can think again. Just listen to his interviews and his desire for this market for both soccer and boxing. Charismatic, young, intelligent and ambitious is a great combination for someone who gets the importance of soccer both locally and globally."
In an interview tonight with Telefutura, Mr. De La Hoya had the following comments:
"I am honored to be involved with this organization...
For us Latinos, soccer is like a religion...
Houston is the best team in Major League Soccer. Twice domestic champions."
Best wishes to Mr. De La Hoya and the Houston Dynamo.
