Guillermo "Memo" Ochoa to AC Milan?

Video courtesy of YouTube.

  • According to Contacto Deportivo (Telefutura), Guillermo "Memo" Ochoa of Club America may be transferred in the future to AC Milan.
  • A few minutes ago, he was interviewed as part of the broadcast, and said "I was surprised to receive a phone call this morning."
Ochoa, 22, is a very talented young goalkeeper. He had a very impressive Copa America tournament for the Mexican National Team in Venezuela, and led Club America to the final of the 2007 Copa Sudamericana.

If this potential transfer goes through, I believe that he will be the first Mexican to play for the current European and Club World Champions.

so far there has been nothing on Milan's website or the Italian press. I haven't seen him play before but I have heard promising comments regarding him. We have a goalkeeping problem and it needs to be fixed. Is he an EU citizen? If he isn't then it is all wrong because Milan have one EU spot left and that is for Pato...

Ochoa is a good goalkeeper but as far as I know he doesn't qualify for a EU passport. I call Ochoa the Mexican Casillas as he came up, like Iker Casillas, and started in high pressure situations as a teenager in goal. And like Casillas he is a very good shot stopper. Ochoa still is young, he's 22, and needs work on handling crosses and long range shots but he is a very good goalkeeping prospect. Obviously with Dida fading Milan need to look for other alternatives but I don't think Ochoa is quite ready to start for a club like Milan. Give him a couple more years of experience first.

Memo is MEXICAN from the state of Jalisco, and if he does go to Milan even though I wanted him to go to Manchester United; I will be very proud of his achievement, because he deserves it. Also, I wanted him to stay in Club America from Mexico because he is one of the greatest goalkeepers Mexico has had. I love him!

To the last commenter:

I noted that Mr. Ochoa is Mexican in the post.

Thank you.
