Team Preview: Juventus Football Club

Official Web Site (In Chinese, English, and Italian)

Juventus FC

The club was formed in 1897 by high school students in Torino. "Juventus" means "youth" in Latin.

Team Colors

White and black. Their original shirt was pink. The current shirt was patterned after Notts County in England. In Italian, they are called "I Bianconeri." "The white and blacks." Also known as "La Vecchia Signora," which means "The Old Lady." Perjoratively as "I Gobbi," which means "The Hunchbacks." That is a reference to FIAT workers that make up some of their fan base. The majority of Juventus support, which is sizeable in Italy (especially Southern Italy and Sicily) and around the world, comes from outside of Torino.

Playing Stadium

Stadio Grande Torino. Juventus will play there until their usual home, Stadio dell'Alpi, is refurbished. The capacity at Stadio Grande Torino, which was the 2006 Olympic Stadium, is much smaller than at dell'Alpi (about 27,000). I have read that he players enjoy the atmosphere much better at their temporary home.

Team Honors

Serie A Scudetto: 27 times, which is a record.
Coppa Italia: 9 times, which is a record.

UEFA Cup: 3 times.
European Supercup: 2 times.
Cup Winners Cup: 1 time.

Juventus was the first European team to win the European Cup, Cup Winners Cup, and the UEFA Cup.
