SANTA CLARITA, CA – Italy’s soccer giant A.C. Milan, the reigning 2007 European Champion Team, will officially open its Southern California youth soccer academy, the Milan USA Academy, on July 14 in Santa Clarita, CA. The academy’s inauguration ceremony will take place during a presentation at 11:30 a.m. at the Santa Clarita Community Center where the Champions League Trophy, awarded in May to A.C. The U.S. trophy tour is sponsored in part by Enlyten, the makers of the first electrolyte SportStrips used by A.C. Milan players during Champions League tournament play.

A.C. Milan’s North American representative Eddie Marles and the new academy's coach, former Italian Serie A player Cristiano Scapolo, will present the trophy as well as Milan USA Academy’s growth plans into Southern California. The new academy will be based out of Hart High School in nearby Newhall and will include four new synthetic soccer fields with registration open for boys and girls ages 5 through 17. See http://www.milanusaacademy.com for details.

Santa Clarita Mayor Marsha McLean will also take part in the festivities as will two A.C. Milan fans -- Elizabeth Arias of Univision's show "La Republica Deportiva " and Brazilian model/actress Ana Carolina da Fonseca.

Following the presentation, fans and members of the media will have an opportunity to take pictures with the Champions League trophy, and Jerseys signed by several A.C. Milan stars including Kaká and Ronaldo will be raffled.
