2007 SuperLiga Begins Tomorrow

Eight teams from Mexico and the USA will participate in the inaugural SuperLiga competition. Here are the two groups:

Group A

CD Guadalajara (Chivas)
CF Pachuca (Mexican Champion)
FC Dallas
Los Angeles Galaxy

Group B

Club America
Monarcas Morelia
DC United
Houston Dynamo (MLS Champion)

All of the games will be televised on Telefutura in the USA. The final will take place on 29 August 2007 at a yet to be disclosed location. There are some very good teams in this tournament, and this is another great opportunity for American fans to witness high-caliber international soccer.

The winner will receive $1,000,000 for their efforts. If an MLS team wins, the player allocation will be $150,000. In a league where some players earn less than $30,000 annually, why not give the players the whole thing? Each team will make money due to gate receipts, merchandising sales, and television revenues.
