Portland Timbers 1 x AC Milan Primavera 1 (4 x1 on Penalties)

Last night in Portland, Oregon, the Under 21 (Primavera) team of AC Milan played a 1 x 1 tie against the Portland Timbers of the USL. The game was decided by penalties, and the Portland side won the shoot-out, 4 x 1. An impressive crowd for a Tuesday evening, 11,092, attended the game at PGE Park. This was the first of three games for the Milanese youth team.

AC Milan will next visit Eugene, Oregon to play against the Eugene Metro Futbol Club at Pape Field, which is on the campus of the University of Oregon. Then they will travel to play the Minnesota Thunder of the USL.

Italian Primavera teams train with the senior clubs, and in many cases, young players receive their professional debuts during this period. In 2002, Inter Milan made an offer for Freddy Adu, and had his family accepted, he would have been groomed via this system.

Davide Ancelotti, the son of Carlo, who is the current head coach of the European Champions, AC Milan, and a former Milanese legend, is a member of this touring team.
