Juventus Back In The Promised Land

After their first season ever spent in the Serie B, with a 1 x 5 victory today over Arezzo, Juventus Football Club gains automatic promotion to the Serie A. It has been a long year for the "Old Lady" of Italian football. Scandal, shame, points deduction, along with a flight of seveeral top players (Fabio Cannavaro, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Adrian Mutu, Lilian Thuram, Patrick Vieira, Gianluca Zambrotta) to Barcelona, Fiorentina, Inter Milan, and Real Madrid, respectively.

Despite it all, the cream rose to the top. Lead by Captain Alessandro Del Piero, along with the other remaining stars who decided to sacrifice their careers for the better good of Juve, such as Gigi Buffon, Mauro Camoranesi, Pavel Nedved, and David Trezeguet, Juventus is back where they belong: Serie A. The coaching skills of Didier Deschamps can not go unnoticed or unappreciated. He took on a challenge that few others would have considered. With a mixture of the old guard, along with younger talents such as Raffaele Palladino, Matteo Paro, and Giorgio Chiellini, Mister Deschamps guided the ship through the previously unchartered and unglamorous waters of the Serie B. There were a few high waves along the way; however, in the end, the goal was achieved.

The irony today was that Arezzo, struggling to remain in the Serie B, is coached by a former Juventus legend: Antonio Conte.

Benvenuti a Serie A, Juventus!
