The Three Rs: Ronaldo, Rooney, and Rossi

I was watching Parma x Fiorentina in a mid-week Serie A game. For Parma, every game is a fight against relegation. Tonight, they beat the Florentines, 2 to 0. Both goals were scored by Italian-American, Giuseppe Rossi. The first on an excellent individual piece of skill. He took a through ball pass, collected it, and then deftly went to his left and took a quick shot to the corner. The second was an equally well-taken penalty kick late in the game.

Rossi is on loan from Manchester United. He wasn't receiving steady playing time in the EPL, and Sir Alex Ferguson found a destination where young (20) Rossi's talents would be utilized. He became the second American to ever play in the Serie A, and now has scored six goals (3 on penalties) during the second half of the season.

After witnessing Manchester United's convincing victory over AS Roma last week, I was reminded that the Red Devils have two other young stars whose names begin with "R." Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney. When I watch Rossi, I see a blend of English and Italian football. He runs for 90 minutes, is very physical despite his small stature, and has immense technical abilities.

The future for Manchester United looks very promising with Ronaldo, Rooney, and Rossi in the picture for many years to come.
