DC United: Nothing But Class

During tonight's away game against the Columbus Crew, DC United took a unique way to express their sympathies and support for the victims of the Virginia Tech tragedy. The team shirts were redesigned for this game to reflect the maroon and orange colors of Virginia Tech. The field players wore maroon and white, while the keeper, Troy Perkins, wore orange.

There is a reason that DC United is the most respected and storied franchise in MLS history. On and off the pitch, they exemplify excellence, humility, and social awareness. Tonight was another star on their impressive dossier.

Next week, the shirts will be auctioned off on the DC United web site. The proceeds will be contributed to the Virginia Tech community.

Well done, DC United.
