Ronie's Revenge

Fabio Capello exiled him to the bench before he even took over the team. "He is not an athlete anymore." The all-time goal scoring leader of the World Cup, and multi-winner of the FIFA Player of the Year award, Ronaldo, was called fat, out of shape, over the hill, and a non-performing galactico asset.

During the January transfer window, Ronaldo asked to leave the Bernabeu. He had offers from the MLS and the Emirates; however; being the great professional that he is, decided to show the world that he was still Ronaldo. He went to AC Milan, and was even medically tested, on his own time, to demonstrate his commitment to top flight football before the transfer was final.

Today, in a very good game at Siena (3- 4), Ronie scored twice in his first start for the rossoneri. Which is a reminder to all of us. It is better to build up someone, rather than tear them down. In words or actions. As we saw today, Ronaldo has returned. Perhaps quicker than the Milan faithful had anticipated. But for the second week in a row, a great coach such as Fabio Capello has been humbled by making the wrong decisions about proven players.
