David Beckham Returns In Style Against Real Sociedad

After a month watching from the stands, David Beckham started his first game for the Merengues at Real Sociedad of San Sebastian. The hosts scored very early after a rare error from Iker Casillas in the Real Madrid goal. But later in the half, in the 37th minute, Beckham scored on a free kick around the Real Sociedad wall from about 25 meters. The ball dipped down to the left to beat the keeper, Claudio Bravo. The first person to jump into Beckham's arms was Fabio Cannavaro. The rest of his teammates followed suit.

At the beginning of the second half, Beckham again was instrumental. He passed to Miguel Torres Gomez, who crossed a nice ball that was powerfully headed into goal by Ruud Van Nistlerooy. And that was that.

Real Madrid won tonight, but more importantly, a great player showed professionalism above and beyond the call of duty. He was justly rewarded for his efforts and attitude.
