Gabriel Enzo Ferrari Is Signed By Sampdoria

On Friday, Gabriel Enzo Ferrari, an 18 year old youth team product of the New York Red Bulls, was signed to a youth team contract by Sampdoria of Genoa of the Serie A.

Ferrari, whose father is Italian and mother is Brazilian, grew up in the USA. Ferrari led the Red Bull's youth team to a national championship at the U17 level.

Should Ferrari feature for the senior Sampdoria team, he will be the first American since Alexi Lalas to play in the Serie A. According to reports, he has been training with their senior club, as is customary in Italy. Ferrari will officially play for the "primavera" team of Sampdoria. That is the Italian word for Spring.

It would be nice to see a Yank playing again in bella Italia.
