2009 WPS Championship Presented by MedImmune Is Set
Sky Blue FC Wins Second Straight Playoff Game on the Road to Advance, Will Face No. 1 seed Los Angeles Sol at The Home Depot Center on Saturday

SAN FRANCISCO, CA (August 19, 2009) – The match-up for the inaugural WPS Championship presented by MedImmune was finalized on Wednesday night when No. 4 seed Sky Blue FC defeated No. 2 seed Saint Louis Athletica in the Super Semifinal, 1-0, on a goal in the 30th minute by Keeley Dowling at The Anheuser-Busch Soccer Park in Fenton, MO.
Under the WPS Playoff format, as regular season champions, the Los Angeles Sol earned the right to host the WPS Championship and will face Sky Blue FC, which squeaked into the playoffs on the final day of the regular season led by player/coach Christie Rampone.
The WPS Championship will kick-off at 4 p.m. ET/1 p.m. PT on Saturday, August 22 with television coverage produced by Fox Soccer Channel and carried live on Fox Sports Net, Comcast SportsNet and select regional affiliates.
