$imgAlt
"Mi sarebbe piaciuto restare al Milan - ha detto - ma purtroppo la crisi ha colpito molti club mondiali, soprattutto quelli che come il Milan sono delle imprese. Ho parlato con i dirigenti e abbiamo convenuto che la soluzione migliore sarebbe stata quella che è stata poi presa".

"It would have pleased me to stay at Milan, but unfortunately, the global economic crisis has stricken many international clubs, above all those like Milan that are run as a commercial entity.

I spoke with the directors and we agreed that the best solution would be that which has been taken.”

"Milan - Starting next season, Kaka' will play with Real Madrid. AC Milan thanks the man and the great champion, Kaka', for his decisive contribution to so many victories over the last 6 years of his Milan tenure. The technical loss, so grave, will be overwhelming. It will be very difficult to fill the void left by the man, Kaka', a great example of seriousness, of work-rate, and professionalism. AC Milan, interpreting the voices of its directors, of the players, and from his fans, extend to him the most cordial and affectionate best wishes for the future of his sporting career."

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Ricardo Kaka' will be sold to Real Madrid for approximately €64.5 million euros. Or over $93 million dollars, which would set the modern day transfer fee record. Sao Paulo, his former club, will receive 2.7 million euros for the transaction.
In 2003, Milan signed Kaka' for approximately $8.5 million from Sao Paulo.
His father, Bosco Leite, who is also his agent, was in Madrid last week, along with Milan V.P. Adriano Galliani, to meet with the new President of Real Madrid, Don Florentino Perez.

Kakà, dal Brasile: "Io ho scelto e voglio restare qui. Dico ai milioni di tifosi del Milan che non me ne andrò via. Ora lasciatemi tranquillo. Starò in silenzio per non essere male interpretato. O peggio strumentalizzato".

FIFA World Player Of The Year Gala

A few months ago, Kaka' said that there was more to life than money when he turned down a lucrative move to Manchester City.

“Alla fine ha contato la mia storia, dove sono legato e dove è in realtà il mio cuore. Tutti i messaggi che mi arrivavano - dice a Milan Channel - mi dicevano di scegliere con il cuore. E io così ho fatto. Non è una stata una scelta economica.”

“In the end, my history counted, where I am tied and where in reality is my heart. All of the messages that arrived (from supporters), he told the Milan Channel, told me to choose with my heart. And I did. It was not an economic choice.”

A Rare Person

This past season, Kaka' scored 16 goals in 36 official appearances for Milan. During his stellar six year career, he scored 95 goals in all competitions.

As we saw with his concise explanation at the top of this post, he understood the full effect of his decision on all parties.

Grazie e tanti auguri, Ricky.
