Gigi Riva: Rumble of Thunder Has a Tribute Web Site
He led Cagliari (Sardinia) to their only Serie A Scudetto in 1970.
He was a prime element of the 1970 World Cup team that beat West Germany in a historic semi-final, and then lost to Brasil in the final.
He was nicknamed "Rombo di Tuono" (Rumble of Thunder) by Gianni Brera, a prominent soccer journalist in the 1960s and 1970s.
He was the capocannonieri, or leading scorer, of the Serie A on 3 occasions.
He is one of the rare former players to see their number (11) retired by his beloved club, Cagliari.
He is now the team manager of the Azzurri, and one of the most respected ambassadors of Italian Calcio.
Luigi "Gigi" Riva.
