According to a story today in the Edmonton Journal by Curtis Stock, Inter Milan is in talks to play a summer friendly in Edmonton, Alberta.
The friendly will be part of the centenary celebrations of the Alberta Soccer Association (ASA).
"It's extremely exciting to do something of this nature," said ASA president Fred Kern. "It's not 100-per-cent sure but we expect a final signature in the next couple of days."Inter Milan rarely ventures into North America, and I believe this will be a very positive experience for all concerned. In the past, Jose' Mourinho, during his tenure at Chelsea FC, regularly visited North America as a part of his preseason training regimen.
"What we are trying to bring to Edmonton is something that is teams from the highest level in the world and the excitement it will bring to the world," Kern said.
2009 Italian Super Cup takes place in China
The 2009 Italian Super Cup (Serie A winner v. Coppa Italia winner) will take place on 08 August in Beijing. Since Inter may be one of the two teams, a summer friendly in Canada would be a good starting point for that potential competition.
