The jewel of Bari Vecchia, Antonio Cassano, has just co-authored his autobiography with Pierluigi Pardo, "Dico Tutto." Which means "I will tell everything." He probably should have called it "Cassanate," for his unique contribution to the Italian lexicon. Meaning "to have a fit" after his numerous and notorious emotional outburts on and off the pitch.
Like Antonio, it is larger than life and its truth would shame the devil.
Here were a few excerpts that appeared today in La Gazzetta dello Sport:
"A Tarragona mi fa scaldare per tutto il secondo tempo con Ronaldo. Nello spogliatoio gli dico 'sei un uomo di m...., sei più falso dei soldi del Monopoli".
"In Tarragona (Spain) he made me warm up the entire second half with Ronaldo. In the dressing room I told him 'You are a shit, you are faker than Monopoly money.' ""A oggi mi sono fatto 17 anni da disgraziato e 9 da miliardario. Me ne mancano ancora 8, prima di pareggiare".
"Up until now I have been a lout for 17 years and 9 years as a very rich man. Now I need 8 years to equal things out.""Ero povero ma tengo a precisare che nella mia vita non ho mai lavorato - si legge in un altro passaggio del libro - anche perchè non so fare nulla".
"I was poor but want to emphasize that in my life I have never worked, (one reads in another passage of the book,) also because I don't know how to do anything.""Quattro fidanzate in 11 anni sono poche") e del resto ("In compenso ho avuto qualche altra avventura. Diciamo tra 600 e 700 donne, una ventina delle quali appartengono al mondo dello spettacolo"). E poi: "Spesso ho giocato grandi partite dopo aver fatto sesso."
"Four serious girlfriends in 11 years aren't very many, (and of the rest) in compensation I had another adventure. Let's say between 600 and 700 women, about twenty who were entertainers... Often I played great games after having had sex."Source: La Gazzetta dello Sport, 12 November 2008.
