Danny Cepero Has Dream Debut for New York Red Bulls

Only in America... :-)

Last night at The Meadowlands, goalkeeper Danny Cepero of New York Red Bulls scored an amazing goal in their 3 x 1 victory over the Columbus Crew.

Watch how the ball goes over 65 yards (~60 meters) in the air, takes one bounce, and ends up in the net past a surprised and embarrassed Columbus Crew keeper, Andy Gruenenbaum.

Also note the very prominent gridiron stripes that MLS seems unable and unwilling to address at dual use facilities such as Giants Stadium. But I'll leave that discussion for another post. This was a historic moment for a young keeper who scored the first goal by any MLS goalkeeper.

Post-Game Interview with Cepero
