Under 21 Team Selected For Italy

Between 10 and 23 June, the European Under 21 Championship will take place in the Netherlands. Italy has won this event five out of the last seven times, and are the defending champion. They will face Serbia, England, and the Czech Republic in Group B play beginning on 11 June. The first two teams will advance to the semi-finals. Group A will have the hosts, the Netherlands, along with Israel, Portugal, and Belgium. The final four teams will automatically qualify for the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Unless one of those teams is England, who do not field an Olympic team. If that occurs, a play-off will determine the fourth team from the best of the third place finishers.

Coach Pierluigi Casiraghi, who is assisted by Gian Franco Zola, has selected a very impressive team. Especially with regards to his attacking quartet of Pazzini, Palladino, Pelle', and Giuseppe Rossi.

Here is a link to the full roster of 23 players.
