Giovanni Trapattoni Wins His 10th Championship

Giovanni "Trap" Trapattoni, the former AC Milan player who has coached seemingly everywhere, added another title to his impressive C.V. Today, Red Bull Salzburg of Austria won their domestic title, which meant that "Mister Trap" has 10 league championships to his name. Incredibly, he has won titles in four different European leagues.

Here is his impressive dossier:

Juventus: Italy, 6.
Inter Milan: Italy, 1.
Bayern Munich: Germany, 1.
Benfica: Portugal, 1.
Red Bull Salzburg: Austria, 1.

In 2002, at the World Cup, we saw a very angry and bitter Trapattoni during and after the controversial loss to South Korea. He pushed forward for two years, but when the Azzurri were eliminated in the first round of Euro 2004, Trap's time on the Azzurri bench came to an abrupt end. He was known to play during intra-squad games. During Euro 2004, when Gennaro Gattuso publicly declared that Trap lacked the courage to play an attacking lineup and/or strategy, he merely said, "Every family has someone like this. What do you want me to do, kick him out?"

Since 2004, he has coached in three different countries: Portugal, Germany, and Austria. His style is very defensive, but nobody can argue with the results. Wherever he goes, he wins. Before games, he spreads holy water on the touchlines to "reduce any negativity."

Complimenti e tanti auguri, Mister Trappatoni.
