Bellamy Swings Liverpool Past Barcelona

Last week, there was an alleged incident between Craig Bellamy and John Arne Riise of Liverpool. Apparently, Bellamy, an avid golfer, mistakenly thought Riise was the little white ball. ;-)

Tonight in the Nou Camp, arguably one of the toughest venues in Europe, Bellamy and Riise were the protagonists of a surprise victory over Barcelona. Not only did Liverpool win, but two away goals might be the difference to propel them to the next round in the Champions League. Even against the defending champion, Barcelona FC, who have the best player in the world, Ronaldinho Gaucho.

Deco put Barca ahead early from an excellent assist by Gianluca Zambrotta, but then Bellamy equalized. Late in the game, Bellamy assisted Riise for the winner. If there were an incident during training last week in Portugal, it didn't appear to alter the tactics of coach Rafael Benitez. Many probably would not have played Bellamy tonight; however, few can boast of winning the European Champions league final on a May night in Istanbul when the Reds were down 0 - 3 at half-time to AC Milan.

Bellamy celebrated his first goal with a golf swing. I don't believe that Tiger Woods has anything to fear. And hopefully, none of his other teammates at Liverpool.

Here is the video clip.
